A Few Area Highlights
The area around Serenity is a natural wonderland, an airy green paradise the Cherokee held sacred. Of landmarks, there are many new, ancient, and some almost forgotten by time. The French Broad River, for one, is said to be among the oldest rivers on Earth.

The Pisgah National Forest outside Asheville is one of America’s oldest. In fact, this pristine forest is considered the “Cradle of Forestry” in the United States in no small part due to the Biltmore Forest School within its borders. Here you will find some 46,600 acres (189 km2) of old-growth forests, heirlooms of the paradise that existed in North America thousands of years hence.

Not far from the front gates of Serenity, the Biltmore Estate is one of the most prominent examples of the Gilded Age of America which saw unprecedented economic growth, especially in the North and West. Still owned by the Vanderbilt family, Biltmore today covers some 8,000 acres, and is Asheville’s most visited attraction.
